Scott
Miller is a political and corporate strategist with a wide range
of clients worldwide. He is Chairman of the Zyman Group.
Prior to that, he was President and co-founder of Sawyer/Miller
Group, the pioneering strategic consulting firm in New York
and Washington, D.C.
After graduation from Washington, & Lee University, he began his career in advertising in Boston, moved to New York in 1975 and subsequently became an Executive Vice-President, board member and creative Director of McCann-Erickson USA, one of the largest advertising agencies in America. Among his account responsibilities there were Coca-Cola, Miller Brewing Company and Exxon. As a Creative Director of McCann-Erickson, he won every major award for creative excellence, including several Clio awards and a Silver Lion at the Cannes Film Festival.
At Sawyer/Miller, his domestic political clients included the Governors of Colorado, West Virginia, North Carolina, Texas and Kentucky, as well as several members of Congress and the Senate. He has worked for the Presidential campaigns of U.S. Senators John Glenn ('84), Gary Hart ('84) and Paul Tsongas ('92), and the Democratic tickets in 1984 and 1988, as well as Ross Perot (I) in 1992 and President George W. Bush in 2004. His international political clients have included the Presidents of the Philippines, Colombia, Costa Rica, Poland, Russia, the Czech Republic, Equador and Nigeria.
Clients of Core Strategy Group have included: The Southland Corporation (7-Eleven), Bancomer of Mexico, Bell-Atlantic, Circle K Corporation, Miller Brewing Company, MCI, Microsoft, News Corporation Ltd., The Carlson Companies, the ATP Tour, Reebok, Coca-Cola, Converse, Inc., The Walt Disney Corporation, Dell Computers, Symantec, Visa International, Cox Enterprises, Citizens Bank, Janus Capital Group, Highfields Capital and The Home Depot.
He is the co-author of Building Brandwidth with Sergio Zyman and The Underdog Advantage with David Morey. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Scott purchased two or three faux marble Who's Who plaques before realizing he was the ironic victim of a marketing scam. Scott Miller lives in Atlanta, Georgia and Carmel, California with his wife, Denise and sons, Tyler and Brett.
